Audits

Assessing the workplace for risks to health and safety is one of the key responsibilities under the TT OSH Act (as amended), Part II, Section 13A.

Regular audits have been shown to reduce accidents and occupational illnesses. They are also an excellent way of communicating with workers and finding and correcting problems before they cause harm.

OSHA Services, LLC provides the following auditing services:

  • Gap Analysis

Gap Analysis is the initial step in the review of your existing management system.

What will a Gap Analysis do?

  • It examines your existing management system against the principal requirements of the TT OSH Act (as amended).

What do we do?

  • A site visit to interview senior staff and other members of the workforce, if necessary, observe working conditions and practices to understand your organisation and associated potential risks.
  • Examine your existing management system i.e., policy, objectives, targets and programmes, performance measurement, emergency procedures, auditing programmes, assessment of risk and risk control, operational control, training and competency.
  • Compare the Management System components to the TT OSH Act (as amended) requirements and identify the gaps.
  • Discuss findings and possible actions.

What benefits do you get?

  • A user-friendly, unbiased report, with a prioritised action plan and recommendations to address non-conformances, which is independently peer reviewed and sent to you in draft form for comment.
  • Feedback presentation to senior management on findings and actions (optional).

  • Safety and Health Facility Assessment

Knowing where to start is an important first step. OSHA Services, LLC will help you solve this piece of the puzzle by performing a Safety and Health Assessment of your facility.

The Safety and Health Facility Assessment has two components: hazard identification and an assessment of your organisation's safety culture and climate.

The hazard identification component entails an inspection of your facility to identify hazards present, controls measures in place and the persons at risk. The potential risks identified will also be quantified. Once you and your organisation have completed the final two steps of the risk assessment process you will meet your initial obligation under Part II, Section 13A.

In the second component of the assessment, your organisation will be evaluated utilising our Safety Culture Climate Assessment Tool (SCCAT™). The questionnaire will assess the safety culture and climate of the organisation with respect to the requirements in the TT OSH Act (as amended) in the areas of Management Leadership and Employee Involvement, Risk Assessment, Hazard Prevention and Control, and Safety and Health Training. The report generated from the questionnaire would indicate the level of TT OSH Act (as amended) compliance attained by your organisation as well as the items required to achieve minimum compliance.
